TennCare Lawsuit: Yeah, it's personal

http://bulletin.aarp.org/yourworld/law/articles/from_sit-in_to_suing.html discusses a lawsuit filed by Karl Davidson, whose enrollment in Tenn-Care was terminated as part of a cost-saving policy implemented by Tennessee's governor. TennCare, which is still trying to fix its problems, gives a good insight into how long, how frustrating and how difficult it is for patients, not eligible for private insurance because they're actually sick, have to battle to get any state coverages.

(And for all those who believe that by removing the right to sue is the "solution" to greedy insurers and health services providers, I encourage you to empower yourself and invite your health insurer and provider to allow you to sign away your right to sue for a discount in your rates. )

This issue has been going on for three years, so patience by patients is the name of the game, but the effort is a good one and consumers should always explore possible legal actions against providers or health insurers or governments that exclude them from eligibility for care and coverage based on health issues.
