AMA rate health insurers

By searching for AMA report card you can see the reprinted story where physicians are acting AGAINST the heavy burden of paperwork they must file for health insurance companies. The complaint is nicely put forth as follows: "Physicians are spending 14 percent of their total revenue to simply obtain what they've earned," said Dr. William Dolan, an AMA board member.

My take on this is: Stop whining. Spending 14% of your revenue on paperwork? How about health insureds who are spending their time on managing their own health insurance information AND who are usually sick when they have to deal with delays, stalling, resubmission, dotting their I's and crossing their T's to get the benefits they PAID for?

A business expense my dear physicians is nothing compared to what individuals must go through. But of course physicians are rating health insurers...consumers should examine these ratings because remember, doctors CHOOSE which insurers they deal with.

This report card should be a heads up for consumers that those health insurers with lower grades will probably, in my opinion, NO LONGER BE ACCEPTED by physicians.

If only consumers had that same power.
